NYC Trip - DUMBO

Jerry Seinfeld referred to Dumbo on a late-night talk show appearance, joking that it stands for “Down Under Manhattan Bridge”, but that New Yorkers added the “O” at the end because they did not want to live in a neighborhood called “Dumb”.

You may ask what does DUMBO stand for? It stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It is under the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and next to is the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Be prepare to do lots of walking and bring a bottle of water.

In the part of the neighborhood everywhere is artwork, lots of buildings are transforming and in the process of rebuilding. Go while it still have the old feelings.

This part of town can be get crowd. Even the locals like to come here and hang out. I went both weekend and weekday. Weekday early morning is the best, not too people. And look out for professional photo shooting. We spotted a few women and young children fashion photo shooting.

Where to eat in DUMBO?

Coffee break at One Girl Cookies (they have really good carrot cake), Shake Shack burger and Juliana's Pizza.

The view of Manhattan from DUMBO is stunning. Grab a chair and view the skyline, it will take your breath away. As you continue walk south of Brooklyn Bridge Park toward Pier 2 , you will see Statue of Liberty.
