A month ago I had the privilege of meeting Jess Brown at a Peek Kids event here in San Francisco. Jess Brown collaborated with Founder of Peek Kids, Tina Canales to create a collection limited-edition of Jess Brown dolls for Peek Kids. Each doll is unique and custom for Peek Kids only. I just checked Peek Kids site it appears all Jess Brown dolls has been sold out. Luckily, I was able to get one on my hand.
Here I’ll write about my experience with Jess Brown doll.
I didn't grow up with a fabric doll. I grew up with Barbie dolls and the closest stuff animals I had was a few teddy bears. I remember when I was a kid, I made and sew clothing for Barbie dolls. So, my first impression with Jess Brown was a very peculiar one. The starry eyes and yellow round mouth are very interesting facial expressions. Jess Brown dolls are beautifully made and loved the beautiful textiles. This explains why it’s so popular among girls.
At the Peek Kids event, I had trouble deciding which doll to get. They are all so beautiful and fashionable. I ended up with Olivia. She is 17-inch tall, white skin, wearing a purple flower dress, a headband with a purple ball, and carrying a gold color purse. Read here for full details about the doll.
Jess Brown dolls are flat, meaning they are not fully rounded. And you can place it anywhere in your home.
At the Peek Kids event, I didn’t really get to learn more about Jess Brown as I wanted to due to the crowd and it’s not a good setting for an interview, a visit to Jess Brown’s shop at Petaluma is coming soon.
