Get Inspired | Christian Robinson

The sources of inspiration in the universe are infinite, there is no need to be afraid of having someone else see your influences. There are plenty to be had! Let he who has not been influenced by another artist work cast the first stone.
— Christian Robinson

Today I will be sharing with you this wonderful children's book: Leo - A Ghost Story by Mac Barnet and illustrations by Christian Robinson.

Even though it is a children's book, I find lots of inspiration. Leo is a ghost feeling unwanted and didn't find happiness when a new family moved into his home.  So he left and roaming around the city.  Trying different things here and there. And then one day he found Jane. They did great things together and develop their friendships.  Of course, there is more to the story. I highly recommended to check it out at your local library, a children's bookshop or Amazon.

Guess what? Great news!! Christian Robinson was in town for a book reading and book signing at Mapaunkids. Lucky for us, we went and got more insights about the books and more inspiration from Christian.

At the event - Christian read Gaston and Leo A Ghost Story. He shared what does it take to start the story, research he does in the library to develop the locations and characters in the illustration. He also shared how he does most of his ideas drawing in a posts notes. Isn't that creative? Find what you already had and be creative!

Christian mentioned there are two secrets in Leo A Ghost Story. Did you spot any? It is inside the book jacket and back cover. That is all I'll say :-)
